Maybe I could, but it is quick and relatively inexpensive at $219 to get an upgraded replacement. At that price I'm getting the shaft. The Tom Woods Shaft that is.

    Rich,
My bet is that it's at the driver side lower rear of your valve cover . ..... 231's really like to dribble there. If it is , use a Felpro #1600 cork gasket , with Hi-Tack only. Ask me later, how I Know . :(, > :bananatool:

Valve covers completely dry ( one did leak at first that turned out to be a valve cover bolt that bottomed out just before seating the cover / gasket fixed now) So I pulled the starter and I can see the back better but it's still tight. Ordered up a borescope for the phone should b here by the weekend. Current plan fire it up and get it hot. Pull the starter and distributor. Install the priming attachment spin with the drill and scope to see if I can find the leak.

Looks like the bend is right above that cutout in the skid plate. Makes me wonder if it made contact with that at some point. The Tom Woods shaft is going to have a larger tube diameter which if the old one did hit the skid plate is going to be even worse with the larger Tom Woods tube.

I have a Tom Woods shaft on the front of my 76 with 304. It actually made very slight contact with the bell housing at full compression the other day. You can see the marks on the shaft.

Found a used Jerry can with a 1979 date. It has a little rust on the inside but not too much. Included a "DD" spout that also serves as the cap. If the can works as I expect it to then the Amazon version that was on the jeep will get relegated to lawnmower duty.

Only drove it a couple times since. One morning it was around 20* and the heater was definitely better. I have now realized that the doors don't seal very well. I'll see what I can do for that.
Not really enough time in cold weather, but definitely better.

Worked on my 58 CJ5, replaced the window gasket the one between the frame and cowl. Also did the transfer case boot, that was not fun, ripped my new one, good thing it's cheap.

Rebuilt the front suspension yesterday. New springs, shocks, bushings. May have to pick up the heavy duty springs the standard spring rate springs have the Jeep sitting with quite a rear high rake.

Ran it 10 minutes to get it hot. Drained the oil for the umpteenth time, new oil pan on the way from CA. After cutting in the rear adjustable proportioning valve and bleeding all 4 the front brakes seemed world's better for two pumps. Today while draining the oil I noticed the fixed proportioning valve was damp. Yep leaks where the metering valve screws in. Quick check of Summit reviews seems this is a common problem....

Back in september I had some rock sliders made by a friend of Norcal69, I gave him the measurements and he made them just the right length for my intermediate. Just got around to installing them today.

Now I won’t have to worry about smashing my rockers this summer on the ECJ5 rubicon trip!

What are those front springs? The only trucks I’ve ever seen with upside down spring eyes were 60’s internationals and maybe some dodges?
