Those Wagner adjuster levers, which are for the 10" brakes, are as rare as hen's teeth, can only be found used as far as I can tell and those brakes were only used on a few vehicles.

I still have the 10 inch stuff in the rear, and the strut didn't have a spring. It's tight between the two shoes, so there's no rattle. Do you suggest that I pull the whole thing and put the spring in?

These brakes are still fighting me.
The only thing left on the passenger side is to get the parking brake cable attached to the backing plate. This seems like a push on to lock situation but I just can’t get it on enough to engage the clips.

    Any tips?

I ended up putting a hose clamp on the cable housing inside the backing plate on the driver side. Not at all happy with the Bubba Mod but I just couldn’t get the cable to clip into the hole.

    Otherwise looks good.

Have you tried gently bending the engagement tangs out with a screwdriver?

Are you sure the inner cable is free from the outer sleeve?

Yes, I think the problem is the hole is enlarged to much from 50 years of use. I seem to get a tang or two to engage but never enough. Thinking the best way to fix it right is drilling the hole out bigger and welding in a correct size plate/washer.

    Yes, No problem with that.

Sorry to highjack your thread but i am trying to add parking brake cables, handle etc. to mine but haven't really been able to get a good few pictures of the mounting and run of the cables. The PO upgraded to 11" which is great with the Parking Brake lever in the rears but no cables or anything else. I just got finished with all the rebuilding but just need to figure out the parking brake parts, etc. Can you take a few pictures of how your cables run and connect to frame, etc. as well as your handle mechanism, etc.

    I would greatly appreciate it!

I’ll try to remember to get a picture of the cables. Here’s the steps I took.

    - mount the cable from the brake handle first. This determines where you need to put the rear cables. I have a custom transmission crossmember so My original parking brake mounting point on the crossmember was gone and I wanted the cables higher anyway. I mounted the front cable high on the side of the Transfer case. There was an unused bolt there from the old clutch tubes. Then I made a mount for the rear cables So the adjustable parts just met.

The only thing this is missing is an adjustment for the rear cables.

I could not get enough force from the old cane parking brake handle so I used the foot pedal from a YJ. I grabbed this part when I got the hanging pedals parts at the salvage yard. This was very easy install with very little modifications.

I had no idea what to do with the extra length of rear cables, it seems like a lot. Not really a problem. I pushed the cables up to a point where they naturally crossed under a frame crossmember and used a small u bolt (1/4” threaded rod bent in a U). The cables are high against the bottom of the frame and look somewhat tidy.
