Mike's has excellent parts, instructions, support. I rebuilt my 2g but the throttle shaft was just worn enough to give me an intermittent vacuum leak.
I bought a remanufactured one ( Uremco) from Summit and it runs great. Rather than shell out $100 for parts ( 2g simple rebuild)on a questionable core $187 was cheap, should have gone that way first.

This is good information Rich, I'll have to look into how to check whether the internal parts are worm out or not. As I mentioned at the start of this thread, Carb #1 (the one with the divorced choke) physically LOOKS much better from a casual glance, but I've learned from hard experience with these jeeps that looks can be deceiving. I think based on everyone's advice, that I'm much more comfortable getting a rebuild kit for this carb and seeing if I can get the manual choke to work properly.

    Thanks for the advice everyone!

Thats definitely not a divorced choke carb...it's a manual choke from the factory. If it's identified otherwise, one of two possibilities.
    A- the website is wrong.
2- your carb is a pieced together hodge-podge.
This is a divorced choke carb-note the choke pull off and the linkage attachment on the passenger side where the choke stove attaches.

Thanks for pointing out the divorced choke carb. Definitely not what I have.

GM used a divorced choke on a ton of models and years. It is essentially an automatic choke assembly mounted in a well in the intake above the exhaust crossover.

    givemethewillys,
The choke bracket you see was part of a universal manual choke kit. The divorced choke setup was easily converted to a cable using the bracket and choke cable.
