Wow, I'm venturing into another part of the forum! :bananatool: I've been looking for a trailer, and this one popped up locally, most seem to be far away. I'd say I probably paid too much for this trailer and I'm not going to tell you, but all that matters is that I'm happy and this will be a nice little project, you know the usual take it apart, have it sandblasted, fix holes, fix other stuff, then paint it for however I please cause it has to match two jeeps!
These are pics from the ad, tomorrow I'll bring it home and look at it and go hmmm :sneak:

so the trailer will be pulled by one or the other of my jeeps, hints of green, sand beige, red, have to go into the mix; so If I'm pulling the jurassic jeep, it has to blend in and visa versa, or is it versa visa:crazy:

I'm so excited about this big/little trailer~ a piece of history? I'm so glad that I didn't try to make a trailer~ this this is solid, pulls like it isn't even there. Ok, got to go look at tractor tires, be back!

Finally got a moment to look at the trailer~ I find it to be a project and will disassemble it over the next few weeks, however we'll be leaving here for several days to help our daughter in philly move as she pursues her Doctor stuff. So, I can repair much needed rusted/gone bolts, etc. You guys know that's when I'm happiest tearing things apart, right? The tractor is near completion :(, the trailer is next, but that's going to go very quickly

I have questions and that has to do with getting parts? I could just go to Trailer wheel and frame and buy new springs and perches, but if there are parts available, that would be good.

So, any observations and advice is quite welcomed!! :D

With the help of my gantry crane, I flipped the tub and did what I do, take the trailer down~ I'm talkin down! I was just thinking of replacing the checker plate, but it looks like it's in there pretty good, so I guess I'll just be patching the tub floor, not big pieces and the floor could then be covered with that bed spray I guess.

I didn't think I'd ever use the cart again, but darn, here it is making my life a little easier.

This is my trailer tongue, it only had two bolts holding it in, one up front and one at its back. No wonder the tub seem to bounce a little going down the road. Not sure what I'm going to do about it, but this piece in not going back in.

The fenders will be easily repaired, just has a few pinholes.

I guess this is where parts questions start, getting parts, but again, trailer places are abundant here.

The pivot bolts were greasable type, but those were non-existent and the bolts I either pounded out, or torched out.

Try unscrewing that fitting at the left of the pic, and screwing in a conventional modern grease nipple.

I've all but destroyed what's left of the shackle bolts, there is nothing grease. All the bolts n nuts were disentigrated from time, wear, etc.

Any Tractor Supply or ranch store should have lots of trailer stuff in stock. I've bought a lot from etrailer.com in the past too. Their prices are good and their shipping is fast.

I kind of finished up on the painting of the tractor wheels, so I addressed cleaning up the wheel hubs (it will need all bearings, they're not bad bad) but bad enough to replace. My media blast cabinet is totally awesome and my compressor keeps up with anything I can throw at it! one of the best investments ever!

X2, don't know how I ever got along without a blast cabinet and compressor big enough to keep up with it. Makes life restoring parts enjoyable.

I really didn't think I'd ever use my rotisserie again, but darn it all, this thing once set up for whatever occasion works wonders! My sandblasters/coaters really appreciate it as it makes their job easier~ and let's face it, I'd still be on my '68 jeep if it weren't for them performing their magic!

If wondering, they have a huge forklift, I'm talking BIG! they pick it up and put it where they want. The first time I took it to them, I had forgotten to cover my casters and they were just about ruined, but I cleaned them up, now I put large trash bags on them. They really can't roll anything around their place due to all the sand.

My little jobs are teeny tiny compared to what they really do! They are less than a mile from our home.

Hi, yes it's me, but I'm not back for long as there's more summer stuff going on with the kids n grandkids, but before that Gary n I went to Philly to help our dr. Daughter move, then came home for a minute, then went to Upstate New york to witness a marriage, then came home, got the grandkids for 2 weeks which is still ongoing, then heading to Lake LBJ~ grr, too much stuff and I really don't like to travel! Obligations~ just whinning a little.

Actually, I don't know when I did the work that I did do, trying to squeeze in some fun~ When I got the parts back from the blaster, the trailer bed was in pretty rough shape:( No problem I thought, I'll just cut it out and weld in a new piece of diamond plate, but at the steel store, a 4 x 8 x 3/16 sheet of is 466 bucks and I decided just to put a bed liner instead.

I don't have a picture, but the fenders are just too full of holes to use and too much to patch, so I went to Northern Tools and bought two new fenders which worked very well;) I have some decals coming to show that the trailer is a BEN-HUR on the tailgate and on the trailer tongue.

The trailer axle is fine, just pitted, new u-bolts and mounting hardware, new wheel bearings; still waiting for the inners to show up:(
    [IMG]

My newly fabricated A-frame type trailer tongue, much nicer than that single tongue;)

Found some beveled washers to mount the A-frame tongue
    [IMG]

yikes, chicken in the oven, got to go! but I'll be back!!!
