My delco starter doesn't have one, but needs one (aluminum nose piece casting cracked due to all the weight hanging off of it).

Does anyone have a picture of what it looks like and how it get's attached? That way I can either fabricate one or find a GM starter brace/bracket that'll work.

    Thanks!

Put up a WTB for it in the classifieds - I think many of us have one in our parts drawer as it seems many of the newer Delco units don't use one.

What's not at all clear to me is how it mounts. My starter has a stud sticking out of the end of the starter. On the block, the only hole nearby is where the engine mount is. But the engine mount bolt is recessed since the edges of the motor mount metal is turned upward. Any ideas?

I just replaced my Delco starter on my 225. The old starter had a threaded hole in the side of the case about mid way back of the case for a bolt to screw into and to help hold up the rear end of the starter. Bolt was missing. New starter did not have the hole in the case to mount like the old one. I let go of the old starter as a core, now wished I kept it and had it rebuilt. There was a bracket on the block for the bolt to go through similar to one in the above pic.

The bolts that mounts bracket to the starter is a 5/16"x3/4" long. The block is also 5/16" but 1" long.

I also moved my frame to block ground wire to this Bracket hole in the block because the bracket isn’t in use with my starter and I preferred this location.
