Hemmings Motor News traditionally has had many advertisers who are specialists in bygone auto motive skills.

A few old coots,,, err, individuals still rebuild carbs, distributors, speedometers, starters etc. I've found the results to be excellent, and occasionally the cost was quite reasonable, a labor of love.

WOW - I kept wondering why the inside of my grill was hacked off- a PO swapped out the original F134 (per the serial number) for a 225 - and welded in an entirely independent radiator bracket- this makes so much more sense now. Love the info here.

    Perhaps you have your calling?

Yes, old school machine shops are not as prevalent today as they were when I was young, neither are knowledgable parts counter guys who knew what would work without having to look it up on their computer. However, as long as there are cars there will be guys who want to rebuild them, and hotrod them, and there will be shops that cater to that.

Thanks for the replies gang. I think I am going to go with a less expensive one for the time being. This is the Jeep that is in the Families first Jeep thread. I will explain more on that post.

I fully agree. Recondition an OEM radiator if you can. However as previously mentioned you might be hard pressed to find a competent REAL radiator shop. Could not find one at all within 90 miles so I dropped it off at my tractor trailer dealer to be sent to their regular service outfit 120 miles away. Without whining I’m here to tell you that they charged well over one and a half times what a NOS unit would have been delivered to my door. Had to negotiate that down about a lot but beware. Those that are left in the racket when they see a small unit like that they may take advantage. Just my two bolts worth.

Went with an all aluminum $155.00 ebay replacement. Matched 100% and working as it should.
