Since one of my old headlights burnt out I decide to go LED. Found this on the web:

    Any thoughts or recommendations?

That looks nice, best I've seen and it doesn't have the cluster-of-LEDs look.

Most notable: (2) OEM Style High Quality Glass Housings.
That's fluted, old fashioned GLASS lenses, which would go toward preserving the proper look.

I cannot stand modern plastic lenses--done my fair share of lens polishing....

What's (watts?) available and affordable for 6-volt jeeps?

This is what I used but I have a 12v system.
They work good, but I'm still getting used to the look

My thinking is these Jeeps just don't go fast enough for high intensity, super bright headlights. [IMG]

I have the old sealed beams plus a set of Wagner Halogens as an option. You can stare right into them and not get too dazzled, same for other drivers...[IMG]

Whereas, I totally agree with you about the Jeep not going fast enough, I want to upgrade the Jeep lights for the same reason I went from gas lights in the house to those newfangled electric incandescent lights. Yeah, the old lights worked OK but boy, it is amazing how much more better you see with those new electric lights.

I've thought that too. I joke about 'lighting the candles' at dusk, on my '56 and that's fine on the trail.

The problem comes when meeting oncoming traffic, and my dim lights can't compete with their bright lights, making it impossible to see the road ahead as we pass.

Yeah the problem with aftermarket units is many don't conform to the DoT or eurospec beam pattern- you may be able to see better, or maybe not is also common but the poor b@$^@&!)$ coming towards you are getting their retina's fried :(

HID' kits are by far the worst offenders but led's have their set of issues as well.

One other thing to consider- if you run in winter conditions the led bulbs a re going to get covered with slush & ice, they just don't run hot enough to melt the shmut.; factory stuff have heat sources built in the keep the lens warm.

Led headlights don’t make enough heat to melt the snow and ice off. We run heated ones(very pricey) on the plow trucks.

I have a 12V system and went with Hella's H4 Halogen conversion head lites look right and you can change the Watt rating of the Bulbs. I'm sticking with the stock 65 Watters but have a set of 85's I might try.

Just had this pop up on youtube-

I don't agree with some of his thoughts on wiring but it's hard to argue with his experience on bulb selection.
