Is this rod supposed to look like this? The other one is perfectly straight.

 

Tag cleaned and installed! I had to use some washers because one of the corners was gone due to corrosion. The tag is paper thin anyways.

 

Wife's toothbrush did the trick, eh?

 

It did! She was later on heard complaining about certain "metallic" aftertaste on the toothpaste!

 

Making square holes for the cage nuts is a lot of fun!

 

Installed the transmission top with the reverse light mod!

 

The electrical part begins...

I suspected so, but it is a Jeep, so anything is possible! I will straighten them up. Thanks!

Well, it is STRAIGHT now!

 

Welting on! Got it from Walcks. The only comment I have, being the " I would like to try before" kind of guy is that they should include an extra split rivet. They only include the exact ammount! What if you ruin one? Charge me an extra few cents and send me at least a spare! Other than that, worked like a charm. I made my own tool based on metalshaper video and worked "mostly ok". I helped on certain areas with a channel lock to do the final bend, however, the last half worked out better. Maybe the practice? I am pleased!

 

BTW, if anyone is interested in using the rivet tool I can lend it to you. Just postage needed.

 

More progress in the electrical department. Weekend rain has slowed me down but I'm still chugging along! I finished the relays for the lights and horn. Still have to wire the gauges in the cluster and do the brakes and reverse light. I have been working on a setup to use the brake lights as a turn signal as well. When I'm done I will dress the wires bundle as good as I can.

 

Radiator, fan and hoses installed. I need to get the hose clamps, but that will be on Monday. A beer convinced me to stop for the day!
