I have a 1968 CJ5 with a Rochester carburetor that loads up and floods intermittently. If I tap the side of the Carburetor, it clears up. I was wondering whether it's the power value or float sticking or needle and seat. I have O-haul a lot or Rochester and Quadrajets. I am going to pull it apart without a kit if I don't tear the gaskets. And clean it out. I was just wondering what you guys find?

Has to be a problem with the needle & seat or the float. Pull it apart & check everything closely. Remove the inlet fitting & blast everything out with carb cleaner.

I appreciate this walk-through video. Easy, while sitting in the arm chair, way to be reminded of the inner works of the 2G Rochester carb.

Just went thru this with mine. Tore it down and put a new needle in on the float. Didnt look bad, but must've had a memory and it got jostled around enough to leak past it.

If you are have a Q jet lying around and can score an old spreadbore Offy 360 for your rig, the Q jet is 'da bomb on the 225.

X2! Small Q-jets run really well with the right manifold.

I like Quadrajet carburetors for me they have good performance and driveability. But I think the Old Rochester is going to be good enough. I can't believe what a difference in starting changing to HEI made. This thing has no move since I started restoring it I started with the front bumper and making my way back every time I look at the engine compartment it make me smile. I replace the steering wheel and installed an AutometerTach and drill and install a voltmeter and pressure gauges and cleaning painting everything. Lot to This will be my last restore job and wiring is my specialty.
