Went out and looked at it after the rain, at least the holes in the cab help with drainage.
The fleet went down one after another over the past month, and its kept me busy.

I didn't mention it before, but the daily's brakes went out towing that trailer of goodies home, blew fluid out of the passenger front caliper, then the front pads went metal on metal because I've been putting off brakes. Ordered new high performance brakes, parts were on back order.
Started daily driving the '72 while I worked on finishing up the 10 inch drums on the '66. A couple days in, the '72 died on the freeway. I think its a clogged fuel filter, one tank has a large one, the other tank relies on the filter mounted on the pump, big mistake on my part to not upgrade it.
Finished the drums on the '66, kept having issues with stumbling at speed.

Haven't even torn in my '68 yet, which still needs brake lines, we're supposed to take it at the end on the month towing behind the daily.
Also been trying to help my buddy get his '61 IH 4x4 motorhome running, maybe I'll get this green one cranking over next year????

Got a lead, same source for goodies might go a different route and sell me his T-36 IH trans.
I'm hoping to pair one with an IH 392, gear ratios on the T36 are:
    6.21
    3.43
    2.05
    1.23
    1.00

He has a friend who is selling a brownie aux trans as well....three speed underdrive/direct/overdrive. :twist: That would be really, really cool for hauling, but this driveline is gonna start getting really long!

The more I think about it, the more I don't think it could work. Engine, Transmission, Brownie, NP201. It's a long combo. Rear driveshaft would be fine, but the front would be almost comical.

You might be able to put a support bearing on the long front driveline to make it work.

It couldn't be much worse than the current Nissan GTR with a rear transaxle and a looong front driveshaft:

That's a good point, I know a guy with a driveshaft shop, he might be able to cook something up. The Brownies are unsynchronized, so it would be fun to learn to drive too.

Yeah, you can literally almost go to any junkyard you want, and pull a 2-piece rear driveline out of just about any 3/4 or 1 ton pickup, and use that for mockup, or even for cutting down and making one yourself.

It's a great point, but I think it'd rather someone else just make it for this. Since the goal of this truck is to haul the CJ through the rough weather, and recovery if I get really stuck.

All the great parts are always on the wrong coast!

Someone at work gave me Covid :banghead: which is slowing down the search for parts. Found a free truck chassis that has four dually wheels in the 6x7.25 bolt pattern on it in a better tire size, but I've been far too sick to do anything or leave the house. Getting married soon, which I can't wait for!

Turns out the wheels were 8 lug, which is good, since the guy messaged me that the scrapper already hauled it away. Search for wheels continues.

Finally doing something. I have to move unexpectedly, landlord is selling the place. I'd rather drive on the trailer than try to rent one with a winch again. Winching my self up would be cool, but I'll settle for driving on.
It's been sitting without an air cleaner for who knows how long, and the carb clearly has debris inside. So off it comes to get cleaned, maybe rebuilt depending on how fast I can get a kit.

Sorry for your situation, moving and all.
The bright side is that carb gets done much sooner than it would have under normal circumstances.

That's absolutely the bright side. I've been itching to work on this thing for a long time now. Other things have gotten in the way on a near daily basis. I'm gonna hunt for a rebuild kit tonight. Hopefully change the oil this week. Maybe prime it this weekend if I can get the carb squared away.

I’m glad to hear this a story of “a move is forcing me to get it running,” rather than the all-too-common, “move is forcing quick sale.”

It very nearly did force a quick sale. I was just telling Jim a few days ago I might sell it.

But then I found a place I can put it if I don't have room when I move.

Ordered a carb kit last night. Should be here by the end of the week. Now I hunt for an air cleaner. Hopefully I can trade it for a spare I have off a different engine.

Took this apart when it slowed down today. Rubber and everything in great shape, just dirty. I didn't have time to do a complete rebuild, so I cleaned the outside a little, cleared all the dirt and sediment out of the bowl. Hopefully sunday I will get this on and maybe see if we can get fuel in it. (Pictures are before cleaning)

Just saw this thread. Man, that truck is really unusual. Very angular, so ugly it's handsome. You guys in California ... that truck would be a mound of red powder on this coast.

What kind of carburetor is that, a Holley?
