Years ago, during the height of my Corvair phase, I dragged home a rampside pickup that I had high hopes for. When I finally got to really play with it, I found that I could not comfortably sit in it as a driver. What I mean by that is that my head cleared the roof sheetmetal, but my line of site at the window was impaired by the comparatively low height of the windshield.

I keep thinking how cool it would be to have an FC with a modified Alaskan camper mounted on it. However, I suspect that being a small FC cab, there might be similar driver fitment issues. Since there are none around here to test fit, I thought I would through it out here for input. FWIW I am not a giant (6'1") but I can't drive hunched over or my back will make me pay for it.

I would think you could make it work. Biggest issue might be the seats. I’m only 5’11”, but I have a long torso - I’m taller than my 6’4” brother in law when we are sitting down at the dinner table.

when I bought my cj, my line of sight was literally over the top of the windshield. I replaced the seats with aluminum kirkey buckets, and I still had room for seat sliders.
I can’t speak for the FC specifically, but all the pictures I see online show very thickly padded seats. So I’d guess you have at least 3-4 inches of wiggle room both downward and backward just by swapping the seats for something thinner.

I'm 5'11", have a bone stock fc, and I'm not pleased with the sitting position. plenty of headroom, but if I sit up straight I can't see out the windshield fully. I find myself slouching and slumping. over the course of pleasure cruising my back starts to hurt towards the end. it's not a daily driver so I deal with it.
just remember, smiles per gallon is important too.

Hmmm. Only 5-9 but I don't recall the FC 150 being that uncomfortable and I logged a lot of miles on one, both on and off road. It was certainly a lot better in that regard than the 2A that proceeded it. And the heater actually sort of worked------

I don't think it would be difficult to position the seats farther back. Way easier than notching wheel houses. Head room should not be a problem.

to be fair, I was in a climbing tree stand accident a few years back, haven't had a good back since. I usually go on 100 mile loops, all on pavement. my other complaint is looking through the curve of the windshield. I get headaches from that as well.

At 5'9", I slump over the wheel to drive mine too. Just kind of the nature of the beast I guess.

I am in the same boat. Have had back surgery in the past and I am usually fine, but sitting a little slumped over for a while is sure to cause a flair up. Sounds like from what most have posted that there is a likelihood that my noggin will clear the roof but my line of sight will be a bit impaired, same as the Corvair FC. I guess a custom seat pan might be the only possible cure. Luckily I haven't found any affordable (meaning cheap) FC's around here anyway.
