When I searched, I found threads where old, for a rear seal on a T-Case. Threads listed a National 473229 as a double lip seal. Is this seal still a double lip seal or is there a better seal to use? Any good numbers?

National 472635, SKF/CR 15450. Probably both single lip. I have been using doubled SKF 15655's which are double lip. The 15655's are 5/16" thick. The NAPA # is the same. You have to thin the felt seal if you use two of these as a full thickness felt seal fits but puts enough pressure against the outside seal to generate some heat. Don't ask me how I know---- I just used a new blade in a utility knife and cut the felt seal to half thickness. I also lubed this double seal setup with a liberal coating of wheel bearing grease. And since the seal lips ride inside and outside the standard seal lip position, you get to use a new surface on the yoke/companion flange. In the two installations I've made, that has been 100% effective.

Went to the parts house to get a seal, National 473229 they only had one. I ask the counter guy if he could cross the number over to anything else. He told me it crossed over and they had one in stock. He got it and a much better seal. The seal # is National 450185. Metal is thicker, less chance of distorting while driving it in place.
