Hi, I want to replace my windshield latch since it does not catch much and I already had it drop the windshield frame on my hood on a trial drive. I have been looking for a new kit and all I see has a different configuration. Mine have all three holes in a plane and the new ones I've seen the third hole is at a 90 degree angle. Do we bend it back or is there another kit that fits better?

The set you pictured is for a flat fender windshield (MB/GPW, CJ-2A, CJ-3A, CJ-3B), not the CJ-5. Seems the CJ-5 parts are not being reproduced. Just FYI.

Also try posting in the WTB forum here, if truckee4x4 can't help you.

Found them: PM me if interested. They came in a lot of tuxedo park parts and are painted and rusty and need some work. Yours for postage! 0244D4C6-C818-4B21-8D8D-731FE69CE7E5.jpeg 1E5B4191-5F21-4B0D-8E11-F0B529B3F67F.jpeg

Ayuh,.... I'm goin' through sorta the same situation on my new to me CJ, in that the latches are loose when clamped down,......
Where I see the problem is, the rubber gasket under the windshield frame is/ has compressed, 'n is to thin,.....
I bought the right gasket for my frame, with high wipers, but the next problem is, my jeep has a glass tub, which isn't as wide as the windshield frame is at the bottom,....
The frame is 3" wide, 'n the glass tub is only 2.25" wide, so it's gonna be a wind/ rain catcher,.....
I've got a "Plan" to make my own gasket, but more to my point for you,.....

If you build a little shim, tall enough, yer latches will work, perfectly, 'n be tight,....
On my set up, I built 2 little plastic blocks, 'bout 1"x 2"x 5/8",......
The 5/8" will space the frame up enough for the latches to snap shut, 'n be tight,....
The 1"x 2" spreads the load on the defroster box, so it hopefully won't get crushed in,....

If this weren't to work, I'll up-date to the screw latches, rather than this over-cam type,....

Always the way. I've just shimmed mine with a little rubber gasket sheet at the hinges. Might not stop a rainstorm, but tightens the w/s.

I ended up giving up on the factory-style latches and installed the Advance Adapters hold downs. I’ve been satisfied with them.

I also went with the advance adapters latch. The factory pot metal latches would always stretch after a few months and rattle. The AA latches have stayed tight and windshield frame has zero movement.

The AA latches are worth the investment, unless you just have to have the factory look.

I’ve never had issues with the factory w/s clamps. Once adjusted properly, they hold the windshield tight, yet allow for quickly laying it down, provided you don’t have a top on. I much prefer them over aftermarket screw-in type.

X2. I had a set of the AA & could never keep the knobs tight. The factory ones i have now work perfectly.

The factory latches are adjustable; perhaps the OP's have slipped or as another suggested the rubber gasket has thinned out.

have you tried adjusting the position of the bracket? On mine, the 3rd serrated spot works the best. Not to tight to operate, yet snug enough for a secure hold. (I have a new windshield to cowl gasket, which really helped)

What you guys said about the two plates that go behind the dashboard made me think… I just went out to my parts bin and found these in a bag. I should probably clean them up and put them behind the dashboard right? 95607014-FEFC-4011-8600-141F34A76E85.jpeg
