Getting ready to get the T3c trailer going. I want to be able to pull it behind the CJ, the Willys wagon and a modern truck. So I was leaning towards the standard 4 wire flat connector. But I can’t seem to find a socket for the vehicle that can be mounted. I’m not crazy about it just dangling back there by the wires. So what do you guys use?

I think a short adapter that would plug into the truck and the trailer would plug into the adapter. Is your truck 7 pin? Since the wagon and CJ wiring would be simpler you could use a round 4 pin that would mount to a small plate.

Convert to the 7 connector then you are compatible with all the truck manufacturer’s that meet DOT standards. No screwing around with adapters or modifying oddball crap. Standardize and be done with it.

I found one at a Marine store, fit right in the rear power take off hole in the rear cross member. Chrome Four pin female, wired a four wire trailer plug into it the male plug. Good Luck.

The one truck came with both the 7 and 4 socket by the hitch and the other came with a 7 to 4 plug in adapter for the factory 7 way socket, which is part of why pretty sure going with 4 wire flat. So all set there.

I assume the PTO hole is that round factory hole in the rear frame. What size is that hole? Willie is in the mountains so I can’t go measure him.

I can't measure mine either. I don't have an original rear crossmember.

Ayuh,..... An oddity I discovered some years ago, with those plastic plug-in-line adapters,......

The ground path doesn't carry through the adapter,.....

I was fightin' with a boat wagon that the lights didn't wanta work right,.... I tore into it, 'n chased all the circuits out, baffled, as I'd done the jumper cables from the trailer frame to the truck frame, 'n they worked,.... I pulled the 7pin to 4 pin adapter outa line, ' tested it,... The brown, yellow, 'n green paths tested Ok through the adapter, but the ground was an open circuit,..... So I cut the adapter apart to see wtf was goin' on,.....
There it was, plain as day,..... No conductor for the ground path,....

If yer gonna use an adapter, meter it, so you don't have to go through the frustration I did,.....
