I was wondering if you all could help me out with a Jeep CJ-5 Tuxedo Park. Long story short, we have a neighbor in Cody, WY whose husband recently passed. They bought this CJ-5 new and have had it ever since as a run around town vehicle. We are trying to help his wife get the most she can for it but its kind of tough. I am having issues with decoding the VIN to see if it is what it appears to be, a V6 with floor shifter etc. The only charts I found online for the Tuxedo Park start in 65 production and this I feel is earlier. I have a ton more photos also, just let me know what is needed. Thanks in advance for your time!

Here is a quick video of it backing out of the garage

That's an awfully nice looking little CJ!
1966 was the 1st model year for the V6.

Those yucky Tuxedo parks, nobody wants them. I'll give you $1,000 to take it off your hands. :D.

nice...looks like it has most of the TP chrome pieces - would it have had hub caps as well?

Real answer: that is a beauty, damn near belongs in a museum. I wish I could afford it.

For those that can chase VIN - the VIN for the OPs TP is 8322 12541
The v6 with single stick D18 and OD all would have been appropriate for 1966, but the single stick has a floor cover I've not seen before - would there have been an A in the serial for a v6?

The sticker that says Willys produced by Kaiser Jeep throws things for a loop.

The hand throttle makes me suspicious that the V6 replaced an F-head.

Maybe was originally an F-head with twin sticks?

Definitely a very nice Jeep, no discounting that. It would be nice to know the axle gear ratios.

That's my guess too. It's also got a column shift dash that I don't think the '66 V6's came with. It would be interesting to see more pictures of the steering box, the motor mounts, the front driveshaft, and whether it has the front axle anti-wrap snubber.

kind of wondering that...but if it was the first year of the single stick, maybe there was something a bit temporary....as fireball said, be interesting to see a few other things...

    Good catch!

Doesn't that Willys sticker equate to a '63?

What year does the registration or title say it is?

    Title says 1965

I have a ton more pics that may help. I'll get them in a Google photos album and share them tonight. Would love to figure this thing out!

FWIW...I agree on the column shift dash part but my 67 Tuxedo Park is a floor shift and has a hand throttle, albeit located to the left of the steering wheel....absolutes....I don't believe in those necessarily when it comes to those particulars in this case, not that the folks in Toledo weren't professionals..but I don't think they put nearly the thought into how a particular CJ was put together on any given day compared to how much time we spend analyzing these things....who knows what folks ordered up back then, and what it has seen in the last 57 or so years. If only they could talk....but then again, I've got a 63 model walking around here somewhere. I agree with Fireball...the truth lurks beneath the skin, but regardless certainly a nice CJ, and this one deserves a new owner who can appreciate it for what it is, as is.

P.S. Id give a pretty penny for one of those tear shaped heater fan motor knobs...I had to adapt a radar rheostat switch out of an F-4 Phantom as mine was missing...cool but not correct.

Nice tux. If this is any help, my '65 tux (originally 4 cyl. /3 on the tree) is 1300 after yours. So yours is at a minimum a '65 tux, when there was no V6 offered.

And yours is a V6 with a hand throttle?
