No one seems to want the cowl so next week it goes on the chopping block if no one picks it up. Then truck gets loaded and hauled to scrap. Once the new frame comes in the shop then a build thread will begin as I have time.

A week or three ago, I installed disc brakes on the Willys wagon, using Brennan’s kit and parts from Amazon.

Then, I had some bits delivered from Walck’s to finish: spindle nuts & washers, hub seals, etc.

Later still, I bought a set of used ten-spline Warn locking hubs from diggerG on OWF, and bolted them on.

Lying in bed the other night, I realized that I had failed to bend the lock washers over on the spindle lock nuts… Grrrr.

Oh, well, I really wanted to put brand new grade 8 bolts in the Warn hubs and only had standard lock washers on them.

I wrote all of that so that I could write this:

Today, I disassembled the hubs, bent the spindle lock washers, installed new snap rings on the inner Warn hubs, then reassembled the hubs with all new bolts and the correct stainless steel Warn-style lock washers and bent those to lock the bolts. Whew.

All of that in an in heated shop in Minnesota on November 19. It was around 18F for a high today.

    Um, no.
I'll have to re do the spring perches. But for what I paid for it, it's worth it.

This what happens when I wait until almost Thanksgiving to put the top on. Had the top in front of the wood stove for a few hours, garage heat got it to 60 degrees, (10 outside), then put a buddy heater in the jeep.

One snap at a time, I finally got it.

I know, but I was thinking it wasn't needed this winter, plans changed. I should just do it every Labor Day.

It's time for the yearly ritual.

Dug all the hardtop parts for the '69 out of the barn. Boy are they dirty from barn dust:

This is as far as I got putting it on but that's the one part I needed help with. I can do the rest of it myself and hopefully can get it done tonight:

Finished putting the hard top on the '69.

    Sides in and bolted together:

New cat helping. Dogs (not pictured} also wanted their toys tossed repeatedly:

Filler panels and upper hinges installed. Front of top screwed to windshield:

    Hatch installed:

    Doors installed:

One of the most important items. The anti rattle pad between the roll bar and the top. Amazing what a difference it makes preventing deafness on rough roads. Some day I'll fab up something that looks better, but not today!:

Finally a good window cleaning. I do like the look of the hard top but it's a pain to install so it only goes on and off once a year:

Fireball, your garage looks like the service bay for a Jeep dealer.

I kept an eye on it, and rotated it to the area I was working on, never getting closer than about 18" to any side. Worked well.
