Unstick Choke Cable Tricks?

    Hello and thanks for taking time to read this.

    I just got a 1970 CJ5, it had been setting for many years, any tricks to free up the Choke cable short of replacing it?

    If it's rusted then soak it in PB blaster or WD40. Make sure there are no kinks behind the dash.

    I agree with using a penetrating oil. Another thing that may help is removing the cable from the Jeep and holding it vertically so the oil can seep down the entire length of the cable housing.

    with the cable removed, it would also be a good time to check the choke levers on the carb to make sure they operate smoothly.

    If it is the type that has an exposed metal coil casing, slather it with oil occasionally after you get it free. The oil will soak through.
