Honestly, the parts are not bad at all. I had planned on using the column in my CJ2A but am going a different route.

First, what do you want out of all this stuff. We will go from there off the forum.

I’m would like the upper shaft, the tube, the spring, nylon bushing, knuckle and retaining ring.

I am unable to get my steering wheel off or else I would use my own spring.
I cannot find the nylon bushing you refrenced on Vintage Jeeps (https://www.vintagejeepparts.com/categories/1972%2d1983-CJ5-&-CJ6/Steering/?page=1) I will take that one and see if i can make my own, find a generic replacment or see if a shop can make one for me.
Where does that retaining ring go? I dont have one nor remember taking one off

    Thank you,
    Mike

before we go any farther, I was able to tear the rest of my steering system apart (but still cant get the old tie rod off the pitman arm). Here are some pictures...

Here is the retaining ring (I finally found it), it looks diffrent from yours and from what I was finding online it looks to be from a 76+ steering system

Here are two pictures of my jeep before I tore it all apart, I am 5'10", and the steering wheel seemed to be at a awkward angle/position but I didint think much of it. Do you think I have a 76+ steering system or the previous owner mixed and matched 71-75 and 76+ steering systems resulting in this bad angle?

I will measure my shafts and compare with what a 71-75 shaft should be.

Please let me know what you think, thank you!

what you see is either part of the horn assembly or a clip that goes around the column that holds the turn signal wiring harness in place.

I am NOT familiar with the '70's CJ5''s so let's hope some of the others can answer your questions regarding 71/75 then 76.......? Sorry. Pitch in guys!

Thank you for everyones help so far, I am going to get my body back on the jeep and will go from there to see how long of a shaft I need. I might just buy a universal shaft and cut it do/ modify it to what I need.

    Probably better quality too.
I just ordered one of these for a friends 72 build. Pretty cheap and flimsy.
