I used to put the spoke up toward the dash. I need to look at some old assembly line photos to see how they were on the line.

Spoke down so you can better see the dash.

    ????

There's nothing behind the wheel on a CJ5 dash.

Apparently when you are cranking them out as fast as possible to win the war it doesn't matter which way you put them on:[IMG]

That's an interesting picture. New '69 CJ5's, one with the curved upper glass and one with what appears to be a ventilating windshield? The Wagoneer's are also interesting, the last one has the older style grill. Of course it could be a pickup, can't really tell.

IMHO I like it with the spoke down. Find it feels nicer in the hands too.

I ran across that on a post on this forum a while back and snapped a screenshot. I couldn’t find the original post this morning when I looked.

I spoked mine up because it has a suicide knob.

That explains why it looked familiar.

I am a little OCD? so I would vote spoke down. On the other hand, you could put the spoke where your dominant driving hand rests on the wheel.

Remember the old adage: spoke on top, please flipflop! Don’t be a clown, keep the spoke pointed down!

Actually I just made that up, but I vote for spoke down

Unlike most steering wheels, there isn't really an up or down. Position is irrelevant IMO.
