That thing has been up for sale off and on for several years. It started out at $20,000 or something iirc. Finally getting down to a realistic price. I bet it’s at Puyallup swap meet this weekend. I’d like to get a closer look at it.

I used to work at a Mitsubishi truck dealership....that would be enough to keep me from buying it :poo:

Pretty clean looking. I would be interested to know what axles, trans, and transfer case it has. Looks like a Dana 20 and possible a 44 under the rear. Wider 2-2-1/2" springs.
The frame looks jeep. Made in Japan under license from Willys from 1953 to 1998. They built a hardtop, 4-door and 2-door wagons. Something like 30 different models.

Not much actual "Jeep" there except for the visual cues ripped off from a 3B.

It's officially licensed, has the same body stampings as an original 3b (except the fenders), Same frame stampings, has Dana axles, a D18 transfer case with parking brake, and drum brakes all around. It's more a of a "Jeep" than a JK in a lot of ways.

Interesting note- back in the 50's they used a Dieselized version of the Hurricane called the KE31

We had a similar discussion recently regarding an M151.
What makes it a Jeep or not?

Yep. In a lot of ways, a much improved version of the 3B. I always thought a 4 door version with a Willys wagon front clip would be the cat's meow. Basically what a 4 door Wrangler became but with a lot more class. The big downside is the right hand steering. Way more Willys blood there than a M151 which has none.

Probably whatever was a "Jeep" when you were sixteen years old and lusting for one. In my case a CJ5 or earlier.

And in my mind something that directly recalls the original WWII heritage. Simple and tough, not a Tijuana Taxi.

Amusing that on a website titled "Early CJ5" I am regularly called to task for maintaining my loyalty to... early CJ5s.

There’s been a black Mitsubishi Jeep here in the lower Fla Keys off and on through Craigslist. I think the seller is asking $15,900 for his.
Make this one seem like a bargain.

I wonder how it is getting parts for it. Sure looks clean. If it were left hand drive I'm sure it would have sold a long time ago

I looked hard for one when living in Northern Japan and never found one… Then the week we were leaving, this showed up for sale on the base in late Dec 2020. Always liked these and the Mitsubishi branded M416 style trailers…
