    1966 CJ5 - 225 Dauntless

I realized yesterday I needed a new crankshaft pulley to complete my power steering conversion.
I have not found just a two groove pulley. Everything I have found is three groove.

Will any three groove Buick crankshaft pulley work on the dauntless and align properly?

I have seen some 3 groove Pullies, and they are in two pieces. A two groove and a one grove. Do these all mount together to make the three groove? Do I need all three or just the two groove portion?

Is there a specific diameter I am looking for on the pulley? I am seeing diameters from 7-1/2" thru 5-1/4".

Anything special for swapping these out? Take the old single groove off and mount the 2 or 3 groove? Does anything special need to be done to the harmonic balancer?

Appreciate your help, there was some good info in the search but a lot of broken links from 15 years ago...

Mine is a 2 groove pulley. I can get a measure of the diameter tomorrow in the daylight.

I got a new 3 groove pulley and had a machine shop cut off the outer groove so I didn’t have to put a huge spacer on fan and get too close/hit radiator.
If possible I probably would have preferred a double belt to the power steering pump, but couldn’t make it work.

    Thanks.

My stock single groove crank pulley looks to be ~6" OD.

So any smaller than that the alternator and water pump performance would suffer?

Sorry for the delay. It was pouring yesterday and I was working on my flatfender this afternoon (in the sunshine), but I totally forgot. I have a two groove pulley that was original to the motor I believe (came out of a Jeepster). It measures 5 3/4" OD.

I am running a 3 groove pulley. It is 2-1/2" tall. The inside groove groove runs the power steering pump and is 5" in diameter. At this time, I am
using the 2 outside 6" grooves for the water pump and alternator with double groove pulleys. Not using a spacer and running a 5 blade 14" fan with about
3/16" of clearance to the pulley and 1-3/4" to the radiator. I am using a stock fan shroud. I am not sure what blade I used as I picked it up online after researching it.
Something that worked out for a change. The stock crank pulley is 2" tall and 5-3/4" in diameter.

Any issues running a larger than stock OD crank pulley?

No issues as it is only 1/4" larger. The main thing is the height of the pulley and fan clearance.

Ebay had 2 and 3 groove in aluminium. Kinda pricey though. Which one did you go with?

    2 Groove from Buick 350 1974-76 OD 5-3/4".
Its new old stock and looks to be in great condition.

I did see the aluminum ones but didn't spend much time looking at them.
