Tank Top

I found a fiberglass hard top in a friends field. Its in pretty decent shape. But I've never seen any of its kind before in my life. The brand name on the back of the top says "TANKTOP". The other thing I noticed was that the hinges for the doors (that were no where to be found) were mounted on the back edge of the door opening of the top. Meening that the doors would swing open the opposite way. Has anyone ever heard or seen something like this before? I would really like to find some doors for this thing.

oooh, suicide doors, on a Jeep! awesome. no I havent heard of it but its an interesting concept. would look different. I wonder if you could just use a set of regular doors and just remount the hinges to the backside?

 

I know...I thought the same thing. Suicide doors would rock. I just spoke to some old jeep 'wise-men' about it and they seemed to remember those tops with the suicide doors on them. They said that there were latches on the sides of the tops so that you could open the doors all the way and they would stay open. I have 2 sets of soft doors and I pondered about just moving the hinges on the doors but the doors do not line up. I could possibly butcher a set of soft doors and make everything work (I have a Hippie friend that works magic re-appolstering soft doors) but I thought I would try this forum for the original doors first.
