Not using torsion bars, converting to 3 link IFS using the C205F diff.

Thanks, I can do fab myself. How much would just the engine, axles & diffs, transfer case, drive shafts, front disk brakes, steering, seats cost?

The wheelbase on a 75 CJ5 is 83.5" and the wheelbase for the dakota is 112.1. Should be primarily just a driveshaft shortening and positioning frame brackets.

Guys like you like to rip-off people to make money on out-dated tech. The only broken dream:rofl:would be new frame and tub to try something different, or sell to people like you. Not destroying anything but your wet dreams:bananatool:

Sounds like you have put some thought into this and have some fab skills. Have fun with it.

Sounds like you have your heart set on this build. I've never seen an IFS CJ, or even heard of one. I think you're in uncharted territory, be sure to post pictures of your build!

I have taken frames with factory running gear and mounted bodys on them because the engineering for axles is already done, probably have to slide the motor one way or the other and shorten the frame, try it out and improve from there, that getting the front axle set up right so it doesn't react in a scary manner at 60 mph always make me pucker up.I have seen a early 50s Plymouth on a Dakota Frame, motors along nicely.you want to do it then get after it ! And don't get discourage and let us vultures buy up your parts.....thats just life....good luck on your project.....all the above has really been just a cautionary warning from those that have seen this happen before, prove us wrong....:study:
I'm getting down off my soap box now,I'm to freaking old to stand this long and I have to get back to the shop to tidy up before Santa gets here !!

This is a slow build because of rust clean-up and paint and I am working on my 2007 Vmax bike and my 2000 Camaro in the garage right now. Just ironing out :poo: right now. I will take many pics once I get started for sure. Don't know why I would have to shorten frame

Dakota, look up ITLKSEZ build thread for his jeep he did with Volvo pieces....amazing,just trying to understand what he was doing gave me a headache....I need simple and easy....maybe you won't have to shorten things up, it's just that most modern stuff is longer....

Your talking about the transfer case being electric vs manual? I don't have a wiring diagram in front of me but believe those where controlled by a module. You would need the PCM and whatever the other terminating can bus module was. Can't remember off hand if it was body control or tipm. You'd need the 4x4 switch also. Pretty sure it was a stepper motor so more involved than just putting some voltage to it. No idea if there are aftermarket solutions or not. Manual tcase from an older vehicle would probably be easiest solution.

Yes, just going to use PCM out of dakota along with everything else.

Grey has wireless module for security key. You don't have that to deal with at least...

As far as it not being a good swap candidate, that is your opinion (which I don't take too seriously) and if nobody has ever done it how would you know?
I don't have a job or a family but money is a object.

If it was me, I would see what parts you could steal from the Dakota and parlay that into the overall picture of the cost. And then perhaps go a little more traditional route with the front axle. For example, on my jeep we hit the salvage yard and picked up A LOT of odds and ends from a Wrangler that would have cost quite a lot if purchased separately. Seat belts, spare wheel carrier, roll cage, odds and ends related to wiring, you name it for around $100. Spent that money saved on other things.
As far as the axle, I think the home builder could reasonably make a coil spring setup (Garage Gnome did this) and have a link system that is easy to sort out correctly as well as providing a nice ride. Could even use OEM arms from a Cherokee, Wrangler, mayte a 4x4 F100 if you could find it. IFS, sure, though I think the amount of time into it might not be worth what the end result is.
