Does anyone have a high torque starter on their AMC v8? Do you still use the stock solenoid in the fender?

I guess I should at least answer the question. ...... I still use the stock starter and fender solenoid.
On my Dream list is a high torque starter.

I've gone thru at least a dozen starters over the last 45 yrs.
and now carry one as a spare part.

I have seen no need for a high torque on my 360.

!?!? Sounds like a "starting" issue, not a starter" problem.

I was wondering if the high torque starter uses the stock solenoid on the fender. I called Summit and they said the high torque starters have solenoids on them, so the wiring has to be redone.

Well to be honest, several of those were because I had an oil leak, which soaked the starter. and a few were because of heat. Since I fixed the oil leak and added a heat shield, things are better.

But I noticed on my last desert trip the starter didn't like the heat. I should probably put the new one in and stop carrying it as dead weight.

I currently have 3.54 in the front and 3.73 in the rear. But the rear axle is now on the work bench getting 3.54 gears

You can leave the fender solenoid by running a jumper from the large wire at the starter to the start terminal on the starter.
Doing it this way, you won't have an always hot wire going to the starter and still have good access to the solenoid for a remote
    switch.
