Bought a 1971 Hurst a few weeks ago. This is my 3rd Commando and my 2nd Hurst. I also have a 1966 CJ-6 with Perkins Diesel. This Hurst is a one owner. Lady got this new for her 21st birthday. She said a few years later the red and blue stripes started cracking so she had the flower pattern painted on. It is pretty nice shape with little rust and original paint. They removed the roof rack, but I have located another one. They installed the tire/can carrier and an auxiliary fuel tank. They also added the mags, but the original wheels were still with the sale. The plan is to get it cleaned up, replace the stripes and get the interior spiffed up.

Get rid of the flowers, but keep the wheels! I've always thought these Jeeps should have come with better looking wheels.
For those who don't know, these are super rare & quite valuable, this is a real score!

Yes, the plan is to replace the original stripes. Will keep the aluminum wheels, just clean and polish them up!

Very nice nearly unmolested Hurst! Those Ren ll D-slots are period correct, and several other Hurst Commandos I've seen have had them. More fitting than the original hubcaps. Even your hood scoop doesn't look like its sagging very much.

Do you happen to know what number your Hurst JC’s are?

I know the serial numbers and they are both in the registry, but I don’t know where in the series they fall as of now. Since no one knows the exact first or last serial number can’t be sure anyway. This one was built in June 1970. I believe June and July of ‘70 when quite a few of them were made.
