I tend to agree, it will probably be faster in the end & something to get your son some hands on experience.

just an FYI, that's a Packard Type 56 connector. used by GM and others, easy to get terminals and housings for (though i've never seen that particular style). obviously not important at this point if the connector has been trashed, but they're good connectors, easy to service, and widespread. my guess would be a 60's GM vehicle.

I moved the jeep back into the garage 3-4 weeks ago. Sunday morning 2 days ago I told my son to come out and help me. I was doing something else but I want him to start unbolting the cage. His answer was something like he would come out in a little while. I was out there from 6am-3pm and he never came back.

It's been about a month now and he hasn't offered to help one time. I spend anywhere from 1-10 hours a day doing something in my garage. It's not like I'm not there to guide or help him. I have 3 blood clots DVTs in my left leg right now. I don't mind cruising around doing small and light tasks but trying to crawl on the floor or wad my 6'5" self into a ball to get under or behind the dash probably isn't going to happen for a couple of months.

If I could get him to help it would probably be on the road by now. I'm not going to force him to help if he really isn't interested. I think it would be a good experience for him but I remember my dad forcing me to do things I didn't like doing. Kids nowadays are not like they were when I was a kid and that really wasn't all that long ago.

Go play a video game with him for an hour or so. Then, ask if he wants to help you beat the roll bar boss battle.

Not a new phenomenon: "The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise." Socrates (469–399 B.C. )

Good advice from @Jw60 . Think of things like ordering his favorite pizza and having it delivered to the garage.

Children's division has visited me three times in three years. You want to know the line, I can point to it.

Most of it stupid stuff they say in school (I did it as a kid too).
