Maybe a valve cover bolt with a extended pin for a spark plug cable holder.

The smaller end is threaded 5/16-18, and the larger end is 3/8-16. Overall length is approx 2-5/16".

Note the traces of "Buick Green" on the captive washer, which leads me to believe it had to have come off of my Dauntless, possibly during a rebuild about 9 years ago.

At 62, I’m often wondering what I used to know that I can’t remember forgetting….

I’ve been redoing the frame on my ‘71. There are two plates on either side of the inside frame rails at the transmission mount. On my frame both were very rusted and falling apart.
it seems I’ve read threads about these before, but I can’t find a thread any way I search.
What are these called and are they necessary to replace? 51661B4C-7BD0-4276-AB38-F74C13542963.jpeg

I would replace them, they spread the load of the transmission on the frame. I've never seen a replacement, it's just holy flat stock.

I'ld call them straps. Or sandwich plates.

Thank you Jw60, that makes a lot of sense.
I’ll make some replacements before bolting in the transmission mount.

When I have a younger guy start I have been known to say I have most likely forgotten more than you have learned. And some day I wonder why I get up from my office chair, only to sit back down and remember…I think there is a limit pressure switch in my backside that only engages my brain when I am sitting down. Lol

I have the head off my 1965 CJ5a, to repair a stuck exaust valve that I broke trying to unstuck it, and I see this brass fitting that isn't hooked up to anything and now want to know "what the heck is that"? Unknown FittingPDF_240418_132424.jpg

That's where the oil pressure sensor goes, looks like someone replaced the idiot light with a gauge & now the hose is missing.

I'm surprised that all your oil hasn't come shooting out there o_O

I removed the fitting to find why there wasn't oil shooting out. It looks like someone ran a small screw into the 1/8" tube and it's broken off in there. There's no added oil guage on the dash. Weird. I'll be sure to put the proper sensor in there. Thanks for the help!

Front or rear? Rear I surmise or was there supposed to be 2, or is the assumption one and the same.
