I thinking about my next project. I have a patina early CJ5 that i want to put and V6 and 4sp in it. I have a rebuilt odd fire v6 in my shop. I also have a M715 T98 (3.5" adaptor on front) that is set up for a SBC along with a OD and PTO for a winch. Last night I found a scout Dana 300 with the Texas pattern. I have a Warn 8274 that could take the place of the PTO winch.
Should I use that or stick to the Dana 18 or go 300?
    Thanks
    Jay

In short, go with the D18 because it has the proper output offset for your rear axle.
The D300 has a centered output, like a D20, that matches the '72 and later models.

How's the output of the T98 configured? IIRC the M715 used a divorced xfer case & does not adapt well/easily to an attached case.

Curious as to where you found it and how much. I'm not in the market because I have one and at some point will need to get rid of it. You may or may not know that the bull gear is essential and can be difficult to find if not included.
Good advice for a short wheelbase vehicle. So unless you're replacing the rear axle your driveshaft will have an extra angle it might not like. If you have a D18 with an overdrive, IMHO that's the best route if you plan on doing any kind of road driving.

The T98 started off a T98a behind a F head, so has a Texas pattern. Also have a postal Dana 44 rear end that I can use to go with it. Thinking that with 3.73 gearing and a 4:1 dana 300 may be a great combo.

Are you sure you don't want a SM465? It comes with the AA30 adapter to the 4 bolt Tejas 300...
