I would like to get a winch for my stock 67 cj with a f134. I am looking for something 6000 to 8000. The question is I still have the generator. Could I keep the generator and run one or do I have to change to an alternator?

Depends on several factors, severity of use, size of battery, and generator capacity. If you had a dual battery setup it would probably help. Couldn't hurt to try it with a generator, although the basic recommendation is to go to an alternator.

Its the stock generator. That brings up the question can you run a dual battery set up with a generator. It would be light duty.

Just guessing, but I don't know why not. I googled a bit but didn't come up with anything definitive.

Personally I would upgrade to an alternator. Not sure if a gene could keep the battery charged up fully after a pull much less two, just my $.02

Thats what I was thinking. Why does everything I want for it mean I have to change four other things. Oh well, if I didnt spend it on the jeep I would just spend it on something else

You can get a rebuilt alt. for relatively cheap. if you're going to spend the money on a 6-8000lb winch, why not spend another ~50 bucks on an alternator that will allow for a lot more winching just my .02

    Grinsha minimally sufficient

I had a 30 amp generator on my FC and it was worthless when winching. I have an 8000lb ramsey on the front and a 2000lb superwinch on the back with dual battery's and the little superwinch could kill the battery's with the truck running. I just upgraded to a 100 amp alternator.
