Ever since I have purchased my jeep I have had one problem.

On the u-joint connectioning to the rear pumpkin is always wearing needle bearings out on the driver side.

Everything is align, One thing I do notice is when I push the jeep forward by hand the pumpkin where the yoke and u-joint seem to be rising.

Almost like the springs are not strong enough to hold the pumpkin in line with with the shaft.

Is there a way to fix this?

    The spring are stock.

    Thanks in advance.

Make sure your u-bolts that moutn the axle are torqued down to the correct setting.

Check and make sure your centing pins that position the axle ont eh springs are not broken.

Can you post a pic of your rear driveline angle?

I will check the centering pins.

I switch from the straps to u-bolts and they are torqued way down.
What is weird the other side of the u-joint is fine. I have gone through 10 sets of u-joiunts on the rear drive shaft from this. I have tried every kind of u-joint.

I will get a pictures later today of the axle setting at rest and try to get one of moving forward.

I think the spring is flexing when moving the jeep. Could it be the spring are worn out and not able to hold the axle in place?

    Thanks !

Check to make sure both the transfer case u joint and the rear u joints are in phase (if you look down the shaft the u joints should be aligned)and have the same angle.

Good question cause if it is springunder, axlewrap shouldn't be an issue.

No a SUA (Spring Under Axle)

I think the springs are woren out and I am putting 350 HP to the wheel so I think I am stressing the springs.

Well it's been a long time since I had anything that put that kind of power to the rear axle but when I did had to add something to keep axle wrap at bay(traction bar). Heck I built a Samuria about ten years ago just for grins it didn't have half that much and I had to build a traction bar to prevnt axle wrap. Staggering the rear shocks help some but doesn't eliminate it comepletely.hth

  14. CAP

CAP Fresh out of the clam.

While you are there, check the spring pad that's welded to the axle tube to be sure it's still flat. They can bow from the twisting of the axle.

Did you get the proper yoke along with the ubolts? If not, then start there.
"Torqued way down" sounds too tight. Don't reef on them, just "tight".
If you distort the cap, you're needle bearings will die soon
