I missing both snap rings on my 74 CJ5 with a Dana 30. These are located at the end of the axle before you put the lock up on.

Nobody has them and will not order just 2. Are these needed? What is everyone else doing when you replace them (loose one)?

no, the locking hub body or drive flange goes on first
    Jeep p/n 649778
any good old time Jeep place will have them
    Walcks, R-P, etc etc etc
keeps axle movement to a minimum

Our good old jeep place does not have them. They say min order is $25.00. Clips sell for $0.99 each. So my cost is $27.00 for two.

Yes, they told me that nobody uses them anymore. I just order some form Quad for .99 each plus $2.00 shipping. A lot cheaper that the above. Part stores do not have a collectio of snap rings anymore. They are like Wal-Mart.

I know your pain:mad: If you have a good local hardware or farm supply store they should carry that kind of thing and it will cost you next to nothingand it also supports the mom an pop stores to help keep them going.
