    Boys...

the other deal fell through, so I ended up finding another one.

this time around, I found a 64 CJ-5. This one is running and road worthy.

Body is fiberglass and it has a running F head engine.

the fiberglass body is so-so (faded but no cracks)

there's homemade shackles on the springs... and other odds and ends like this.

On the other side, it has a "overdrive" transfer case ( I may have that wrong, but there's a third lever on the floor and the guy said it's for the overdrive)

there's "roll bar" and I some how think this maybe a add on..

    anyway... customer is asking $3k...

    good deal????

    Need some opinions boys...

A functional overdrive is very desirable. Alot of times the used overdrive units sell for more than the transfercase they're attached to.

Personally, I think that's a bit steep. That's close to what I paid for mine here in AZ. My jeep had more stuff I wanted (minus the overdrive) and the AZ jeep prices are higher than most areas. However, I'm not there and I don't know what condition the drivetrain is in. If it's all new rebuilt pieces I'd think that was a great deal.

    thanks fellows...

I know that the value of anything is seen in both the eyes of the seller and the guy with the money..

The 3K seems a bit stiff to me too, but alas, I am not the guy selling it.

the body is fiberglass like I said, but it needs a good rub out (is that possible with fiberglass??)? as the color has faded quite a bit.

the inside fiberglass needs a bit of work too, as it is also faded or worn..

The home made shackles seem to be a issue for me. I don' t know why because if I were to purchase this, it would be restored and not made into a rock or trail rig.

the running gear seems to work as per the guy selling it. And since he was driving it on the road I would assume it's road worthy.

He said that even with the overdrive, max speed is a bit under 55 mph. Since I live about 75 miles away, he really would like to see me tow it home or put it on a trailer, as "that's too far to drive her at max speed."

possibile to buff fiberglass. the summer at worked at the rv dealership, we used gel-gloss (pink 1 quart can) works real well. IF it's really oxidized, then buffing compound, or some flitz polish.

What kind of tranny and gears does it have if it can only do 55 w/ an overdrive? Sounds like it should be able to go a little faster if it has an overdrive...
