I'm hoping to be able to replace my suspension real soon. My add-a-leafs are about to beat my brains out. I had narrowed my selection down to a Black Diamond 3" kit or a BDS 2.5" kit then I ran across this: http://rustysoffroad.com/mm5/mercha...Product_Code=ROR75-3&Category_Code=sus_cj_kit

It actually has the features I like from both the Black Diamond springs and the BDS springs combined. If this suspension is as good as Rusty claims, it should be a good set up.

    What do ya'll think?

Looks and sounds nice, but I'd found out how many leaves are in it.

I put a BDS lift on my 02 Excursion, HATED it, ended up changing it out for a FabTech, are the BDS kits for Jeep better I hope? I was wanting to go maybe an inch or 2. That one looks good, as long as the ride stays decent...

I've had nothing but good experiences with BDS kits I've installed and ridden in. If you check the forum you'll find pretty much nothing but positive comments about BDS kits here...

As far as Rusty's, I had friends that used his stuff on their XJs some years ago, they were quite pleased. Dunno a thing about this kit though (if that's worth anything).

I looked at that kit recently. You might want to do some further research on Rusty's.

The explorer pro-comp kit is about the same price IIRC and Mile High Jeep rebuilders had a good price on the BDS springs.

I've read (searched) the forum and most people here do like their BDS lifts. The only first hand experience I have with BDS is a friend of mines CJ7 with a 4" BDS lift. His springs seem to be STIFF and he's been running them for several years so they should be well broken in by now. Of course trying to compare a 4" CJ7 lift to a 2.5" ECJ5 lift is not a fair comparison.

I have read some negative stuff about Rusty on some of the XJ forums, but, I've read negative stuff on the web about almost every suspension company.

Can't tell you about that one, but my black diamond rides nice after the springs broke in a bit. I bought my jeep with the kit on it but it had less than 5 miles on it. Apparently the front U-bolts were wrong and the PO had some new ones bent up.

I will tell you that I might have chosen a slightly lower kit if I was doing it again. On the highway I almost feel too high, it feels kind of tippy. I could probably do a bit better with some better shocks though.

Subjective I'd guess. I've never been disappointed like I said above. I installed one, helped install another, and ridden in several. Ride is much better than stock. YMMV.

I've got about a thousand miles on a Black Diamond 3" and it's finally starting to get broke in. It was a horrendously stiff ride at first. The height is just where I like it. Rusty's has a good rep (I live near Tulsa) around here, but I haven't seen that lift either. One thing it appears to be missing is new bushings. You'd need to add that in the price.:v6:
