OK, the frame-off resto. on my 79 CJ5 is 99% complete. We're just a day or two away from turning the key. However, one last little detail is still unsolved. The oil pressure sending unit that threads into a 2-hole adapter and then into the block right above the oil filter is easy to identify. But that leaves an empty threaded hole in this adapter. There is a piece that threads into it very nicely that has 3 electrical prongs on the end. What is this little guy and does it in fact thread into this other hole. Please see the attached pictures. Thanks!

Just tried to attach pics and apparently I'm over my quota. Dang. Ok so I'll try and describe exactly what I have. The square-edged, four-sided adapter that threads into the block above the oil filter has two equal-sized threaded holes. One on the very end and one on the side in the middle. The oil pressure sending unit obviously threads into one of these holes, but which one? And does this small round device with the three flat prongs on the end thread into the other? And what is it? Thanks again!

Nobody? Anybody? Even a guess about what this piece is would be appreciated. Thanks.:)

sounds like the electric choke switch
oil sender would thread into the top hole, 90* to the fitting
the choke switch threads into the other opening
prolly senses oil temp to shut off 12v to the electric choke on the carb when oil is warm

Thanks, that sounds good. So the electric choke switch connects up to the electric choke on my Edelbrock carb? And it threads into the hole on the very end of the adapter into the block? I thought it was some type of temperature sender, and I know there's already one on top of the manifold, so this would make sense.

position on which hole it's threaded into won't matter
whether you use it or not is up to you
if the harness and connector are present, and in good condition, why not go ahead.
