Windshield glass replacement

The windshield on my '64 CJ5 has multiple cracks. I've already ordered a new rubber seal for the windshield. I've called a few glass places and they don't have the windshield in stock. They said I could bring the frame in and they would measure it and cut a piece of safety glass to fit. Is this the best way to get a replacement windshield?

    Thanks,

    Eric

Yes, and shop around also because prices can vary significantly.

Any auto glass shop can cut and install flat windshield glass, but you will pay extra if you want it tinted.

It's well worth the price to have it installed IMHO, especially if you've never done it before.

Gotta agree with everyone on just taking it in and having it done, or if you're driving the Jeep just drive it by there instead of taking the frame off. The one here in my town even brought mine to me here while I was at work for my TJ and did it here in less than an hour for like $110. Price might be a little higher where you are, as well as how long you might have to wait to get it done, but for the most part I would think it would be in the $100-$150 range.
