    To the best of my knowage this is right. I have spent many hours researching this online. I have found pages with orginal jeep docs images that I used to get this Data. I made this sheet a few years ago and I decided to dig it back out and share it with everyone to get feed back.

    Thanks for sharing your research Justin. Helps me to narrow down the build date for my '66.
    #8305C16 214970
    The "C", As I understand it, indicates Canadian manufacture though I have no clue what the "16" means.
    Cheers

    Hi, my 68CJ5 has a S in the middle, it was made in Toledo and sold in Montana, when i ordered new Decals from Jerry, he said it is the earliest vin # for 68 he has ever seen, he thinks it was made in late 67, and sold in Jan of 68, Ser # is 8305 S 237645. George.

    My 68 has "S" also. Hey Justin, any motivations to carry it out another few months? I am curious what month (in late 1967) my 8305 S 238757 was built.

    S = smog (Universal)

    Note: Discontinue designator A and S with the inception of the (7) digit serial number prefix

    I wish there was some info on post '67 vehicles.

    I've seen a couple sites that list the VIN decoding for our CJ5's but for some reason they always stop at '67.

    From your chart:
    <57548 or 8305 is the Model Number and stands for CJ-5>

    Any idea what a CJ-6 would be?

    Thanx!
