It's the same as converting to a 304 or 401, except for the flywheel. Have you searched?

I believe the v8 and the I6 have the same bolt pattern on the bell housing. Input shaft I think is diff for trans on the 2 motors. You will need frame horns and motor mounts from a 5 for the v8. Herm ( http://www.hermtheoverdriveguy.com/guy) can help with the input shaft. Frame horns, you need to find a donor or someone that has a set. Radiator will be different, more rows. Although if you can weld you can make you own horns, just remember the 304/360 isn't centerd in the engine bay. New clutch and press plate, don't think the exhaust manifolds from the waggy will work. If the waggy was/is an auto, you will need a flywheel for a 360. 304 has a diff balance than the 360. All I can think of, may be more or less. Then again, I could be all wrong!

One of the frame mounts is different for the 360, I think it's the passenger side one but I'm not sure. If you have the extra coin, look at the MORE mounts. They are beefy.

Flywheel and clutch for a 360. Like it's said above, flywheel is different on the 360.

Do you already have a 3-4 core radiator??? You will need one.

Exhaust will need to be redone, and as said above, you will need a drivers side manifold that exits more towards the middle of the manifold to clear the engine mounts.

You said this was a waggy???? You might want the axles as well.

AMC V8's are notorious for having low oil pressure. One of the main causes is the timing cover since it's made of alluminium. Bulltear.com has a bunch of stuff for sale as well as a good forum over there.

I was going to do a similar swap, but decided to do fuel injection instead and I have been happy with the power so far. It's not 360 power, but pretty snappy for a 6.

    Good luck

no. IIRC the 258 and the 304 share the same rad.

You'll need the passenger side motor mount for the V8 and a drivers side 304 exhaust manifold with the centered downfall to avoid the clutch linkage. 360 flywheel due to the external balancing needed. I think the I6 is internally balanced. I opted for a Y pipe into single exhaust for a cleaner look underneath. The xfer case wont allow duals inside the frame. If you are going to run headers, you can go outside the frame for duals.

I decided on the V8 swap before the gas prices went through the roof. Now, I wish I would have stuck with the I6 and spent the rebuild money on performance upgrades like HEI, FI and header and exhaust. Once you see the performance numbers on both engines, it really does'nt make sense to go with the V8. I hope this info helps.

    I just received a Proliance part # 436010 radiator for my '73 304 CJ5. The description is

    "Heatbuster Extreme Service model"

    Make: AMC
    Core Size: 15 5/8 x 24 1/4 x 2
    No. of Rows: 3
    Tank Inlet: 2 3/4 x 24 9/16
    Tank Outlet: 2 3/4 x 24 9/16
Inlet Connection: 1 1/2 Top Right
Outlet Connection: 1 1/2 Bottom Left
    TOC: 12
    Construction: Copper Brass
    Mounting: Rear Flange
Comments: TOC adapters included in kit

I think it is the same one NAPA sells. It looks nice, I'm putting it in this weekend. The applications list '73 to '85 CJ5/6/7/8 with both the sixes and V8s.
