Truth. Of course, if you use the roll bar type, and forgo a cage, then you wouldn't lose either. My Roll bar is bolted through the floor to big steel plates underneath, which isn't as good as being bolted to the frame, but we don't have big rocks to climb in my neck of the woods, only mud.

Wow, it's been a awhile since I'd visited here!

Colorado_Baja, if you'll shoot me an email, I can send you several of that particular kit installed. Are there any specific angles/shoots you're looking for? (can't promise anything, just have what the owners/installers send).

Edit: Noticed your comment about the dashpad. While it hasn't been done yet, 1 customer with the DashHugger (in a true 'vert  ) is planning to keep it. In our estimation the dashpad can be retained (with some light mods).

Here is a picture of the roll cage for my Jeepster. Its is a trail forge kit and it was pretty well fabricated. It took me a couple of evenings to install it. As you can see I have it attached to the floor of the vehicle. There are large 6"x6"x 3/8" plates under the floor board to help distribute the load better. I was cautioned by a company not to attach it to the frame. Their feeling was that if it is for personnel protection in a vehicle accident they would rather see the body seperate itself from the frame and the roll cage stay intact to protect the occupants. Now, they did say if it was for rock crawling and or frame strengthening attach it to the frame. As you can see this vehicle is more for cruising than abuse so I attached the cage to the floor.
