In my '80 CJ-5 I am running a Rubicon Express extreme duty 4.5 inch suspension, it also seemed harsh and stiff at first. I removed the # 3 leaf from the pack making it a 4 leaf spring,,rides and flexes better but still minimal body roll on the street. With 33's you do not need the body lift, so dump it ASAP, you will notice less body roll and better "seat of the pants" feeling off road. Stock length shackles will also help, but in the long run only getting used to your Jeep will help with your off-camber fears.
Also, as the CJ-5 is so short, lifting a wheel during a climb over an obstacle is unfortunately kinda common, I do it a lot, you just need to adjust your driving style and learn to counter it. Wheel spacers may help the feeling of stability a bit.

Thanks ALL for the responses. I think my suspension stuff is fairly old and I'm guessin the shackle to spring connections are tight and rusty. I think I'll end up with the Skyjacker and elimnate the body lift. Thanks again for all the help!
