    Which would you pick:

Toyo Open Country M/T's (35x12.5 on 17" Rim)
    $368 per tire

    or

    BFG T/A KM2's (35x12.5 on 17" Rim)
    $270 per tire

Major difference is $100 per tire more on the Toyo's over the BFG's.

Which would you choose if money wasn't an option, and based on overall performance.

I have never run Toyo tires so I cant say anything about their performance. I have had BFG Tires on 3 different Jeeps, Mud Terrain on my current CJ5 and AT/KO's on my Liberty and a 77 CJ5 I had. I thought the BFG's preformed very well. Sometimes all things are equal until you get to the price tag.

    Just my 2 cents

Toyos will be as quiet as a BFG A/T on the street and the tread will last longer than the BFG if you're daily driving them.

Off Road, it depends on your terrain. If you're into rocks, I'd go with the BFG. Sand, then Toyos. Street, Toyos. Mud - it's a toss up - they're both gonna dissapoint compared with a Swamper or gnarly mud tire. Regular trail driving, etc, then the BFG.

Honestly, I think the Toyo is an exceptional tire. It's worlds ahead of the BFG in quality (balance, roundness, etc.) but the BFG price point is hard to ignore. It's sort of like comparing a Toyota to a Lexus. They're both good, but one is better.

Those price's look like sug. retail. Not real world price.
    At least here.

    I like BFG's alot.
but the Toyos are king around here.

Not rock crawling country here, but for eveything else they are amazing.
We were climbing a fire cut and when we got to wet grass only the Toyos could go any farther.
they seem to be softer but dont wear that fast.

    IMHO.:)

Great replies on everyone's part.......thanks for the info. Anyone with any BFG T/A KM2 experience (actual owners). I haven't seen anyone running them yet?

I have never ran Toyo's but I love my new BFG's compaired to my Goodyear MTR's. I drive some roads but mostly dirt and some rocks. So far my only complaint about the BFG's was the availablility. From the comments I see here go with the cheapest price and don't look back.

    Yeah, me.

BFG KM2 are louder on street than older BFG MT, but better in the rocks. Tread works better on the trail. Sidewalls pretty strong for rock crawling and rooted trail work. Overall, a better off road tire than the old MT, but with a tradeoff in on road noise and slightly worse tread wear.

Just got an e-mail from BFG's marketing folks. New sizes coming soon:

That's good news, however I think I'm still going to run 17's to just be on the safe side to clear all steering components. Thanks for your real-time inputs.
