Defroster ducts 75 cj5

There are two outlets on the blower housing but only one duct connected and the other outlet (drivers side) is open. Is that an intake or something? Are there supposed to be two ducts? If there were would it work any better? The fan blows like crazy and the cable operated damper/valves seem to be working but next to zero air comes out of the defroster slits. I know they suck but should they actually suck rather than blow? As my dad used to say if it were any slower it would be going backwards.

The second hole is just...well..."wrong" many of us just cover it up. I used a lid from a rattle can (fits nice).

I also just plugged the second hole and it didn't seem to make any difference. Thanks for the info though.

 

Yeah, it was a big let down for me as well.
