    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone here knows if the 1961 CJ-5 had Willy's decal in the center of the tailgate. I found the 4wheelDrive one and I have seen pictures of JEEP on the side between the door opening and fender.

    Yes, sort of.

It wasn't a decal, it was a stamping right in the sheet metal, same deal as the "JEEP" stamping on the side. of course, by this time Jeeps were actually "Kaisers"n not Willys" but the tailgate stamping lasted for a few more years until roundabout '64 IIRC.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am trying to give it some character since it has a fiberglass tub that is completely smooth with no factory style details on it. Hopefully someday I will switch out the tub with one that looks more like a 60's era CJ-5.

You could check with a local striping artist and have it done with air-brush with highlights that make it appear to be embossed.just a idea,i plan on having the JEEP on the sides and tailgate done that way on my project.

Ah, the original post was kind of confusing, but I unnerstand now! If I remember correctly, wasn't there a member here once upon a time that was making the "WILLYS" and "JEEP" vinyl decals? They were applied right onto the raised letters? Been a couple years ago.....

That is exactly my plan. I have a vinyl cutter because my cousin and I are starting a side business making vinyl decals and I though why not make myself some decals to mimic the factory lettering.

I was thinking the same thing, I would like to get the block lettered "JEEP" on the sides behind the front fender to add a bit to the smooth 'glass on mine. I'll be interested if someone comes up with something.

I was just checking it out also, but I didn't see it all in caps like my '59 originally had.

aallison 74 cj6, 76 cj5. Has anyone seen my screwdriver?

I have a woodshop and I make a lot of signs. I have a program if someone can upload a good photo of whatever it is, or whatever we want to make or cut, I can send it to you in a .dxf or .dwg file so you can cut it in viny.

All I need is a clear photo or somthing off the internet.

Can you just fool around with your computers fonts until you find a good one?

Looks right based on the hand - I can measure them off the flattie if you want.

Yea if you can confirm the dimm "1.5 x 7 inches" it would be great.
