Not wanting to hijack the other thread, I decided to make a new one...

Saw this over at the Southern Jeeps site, and thought it was a cool, cheap way to get a "family cage" if you don't have a tube bender. This uses one of the stock single-hoop rollbars from an early Jeep.

    From user "Patrick Bennett":

    And here are pictures:

    Thats a good idea.
I thought about the front cage kits for the back hoop as well. This ones much cheaper to do.
May need to go pay a visit to a junk yard since I sold the one out of the parts Jeep.

Yup, i was going to do that, but didnt have one laying around. You could also use the rear down tubes to be the spreaders. Worst thing is making it fit under the soft top yet let the passengers not smash their head. Given Boyink is never going to fit in my backseat of the bus ;)

very good idea. The only thing I would suggest would be a bit more triangulation to keep the cage from shearing.

    :p

I *just* fit in the backseat of my own Jeep. If I sit back there and roll my head back there's maybe 1/2" of gap between my head and the bar.

I know the 6 tops are ~ 1.5" taller in the middle, not sure if I have more height to work with at the back as well.
