Okay, so yesterday i was bored and tinkering and discovered that my dist. was a tooth off, and the plug wires were all shifted over one spot. I re-dropped the distributor and put the plug wires back right, and then set the timing to 0* (as per the haynes manual, prestolite distributor) which seemed kinda low to me. I went wheeling today, and my power is noticeably less than it was before i monkeyed with it...

I have plain-jane stock points ignition, with new points, condensor, cap, rotor, wires, and plugs about 2000 miles ago, and am running the stock vacuum advance.

how much advance should i *theoretically* be able to safely run at idle, and at what RPM should the vac. advance max out at? how far advanced should it be at full advance?

    thanks

Okay... Is 10* of initial timing too much?
