Oil Blowing

I recently developed a problem with oil blowing from possibly the air cleaner and coming out where the cross over tube attaches to the carb.

After driving it, I notice oil all over the underneath of the hood above the carb.

Any ideas on what is causing this?

It is possible to pull oil from the oil bath air cleaner if it is overfilled but with good air intake hose connections this will usually manifest itself with symptoms of a rich fuel air mixture with possibly a little smoke intermittently depending on throttle position and terrain.

I would suspect that you have an oil leak elsewhere and the fan is blowing this oil to where you see it. If you have the oil filter mounted on the engine look for leaks at hose connections and cap gasket. Also check the hoses from the valve cover to filler to air cleaner ( depending on pcv system on your engine ) also a leaking valve cover gasket could be the source.

Yep! It's the input oil line connection at the oil filter that's leaking. The air filter tube was dry.

It looks like the line is jacked up causing it not to seal. I put some RTV around it for a temporary fix until I can get a new line.

    Thanks!
