rear spring mount is hurting

    Hey guys
68 Commando rebuild has hit a snag. The driver side rear spring mount looks like it has been ripped from the frame and poorly rewelded back almost into place. Has a 4 inch bolt welded accross the top for metal filling and not much else holding it on. Is there a place to get a new mount or will I have to try to repair what I've got?

Commando spring mounts might be a little harder to find, unlike the CJ, they are outboard of the frame. Any pics of what you have?

I did take some pics of the problem but couldn't figure out how to add them to the thread. I did put them into a album today.

If you can't repair what you have best bet would be to find somebody that has a scrap frame they could pull one off. Nobody is going to have an aftermarket replacement.
For all the non Jeepster guys who've never seen one.

Thats the front mount. The rear one is alot like a Wrangler rear mount,at least on mine it is.You would have to use a Wrangler mount to get it wide enough for the rear springs
If it ripped off the frame, you will have to repair the rear cross member first. Then weld on your new mount.

Really? Still waiting to hear back from him which mount he's talking about, the rear mount or the rear rear mount.
