Well, I started my merry day starting to take the winch off the jeep after spending my time yesterday taking out the old column and steering parts. Much to my delight I found that my frame has some issues (see pics). The driver's side is starting to crack where the passenger side split. What, if anything, can I do about this? Weld it up and box both sides? Ugh!! So much for the easy saginaw conversion.

    weld up the damage
make cardboard templates/patterns for both inner frame sides
use patterns to make plates to box frame; weld them in, but.....
think about placing pipe spacers in between boxed areas for where mounting bolts for box might go all the way through the frame; keeps it from collapsing
maybe reinforce outside, top, and bottoms of frame by strapping
    easy!

jpflat2a, Thanks for the help. I thought it might be a simple install. I'll get to work.
