    Please?

My dads 98 TJ has some screwed up transfer case nutserts, to the point where on side is held on by one bolt. I am not concerned with it coming out in the meantime, but it has been like that for far too long. I have never dealt with nutserts. can I just go to napa and buy new ones to weld in? The only other way i have figured to deal with it it to sandwich a piece of plate with nuts welded to it and welded up into the frame:? how should i get the old ones out? grinder? holesaw?

:?Nutserts? Is that like rivnuts? Haven't seen those since northern Germany on military mobilizers. Are they installed like a threaded Rivet?

If you can grind one side off then you can drive it out and re-insert a new one.

You say this is on a transfer case. Are you referring to Helicoils?

Helicoil is used to repair damaged threads in heavier applications like manifolds ect.
I think the nutserts are for lighter applications like firewalls and core supports.

They could also be keenserts. Similar but much stronger.

I'm more looking for something that i can weld in. If I was gonna do the helocoils i would just drill and tap for a larger bolt, but thanks for mentioning it, i didn't think of that. What i think I need is like the rivet nut, but instead of being pressed into the frame they would be welded.

I think you lost most people in your first sentence...Your talking about the nuts welded in the frame for that the skid plate bolts up to correct?
