Can I swap the Bendix shafts to regular u-joint shafts? Whats the difference.

You need to put the complete Axle shaft (just the insides axle shafts) from 27's in both sides. You shouldn't try to convert the Bendix or Repelza shafts.

So if I bought complete shafts for boths sides (inner&outer) with joints it would swap in fine?

There's a bushing issue I believe with the older axles like on the 2A. I think it just needs to be removed from the end of the housing on both sides. Warloch probably knows what to do.

There are a couple little issues with the swap. It's been a few years since I did it, but remember changing seals and bearings - getting to esentually a bare tube. I think the bushing Glenn mentioned was a part of the outer axle seal I changed out. I would think someone else here has done one more recent, but will look to see if I can find my notes and get you specifics.

Overall, I don’t remember it being a huge deal, but then I was swapping R&P and everything at the time.

Service manuals sure come in handy. ;) The bushing I mentioned is also a thrust washer and used to control axle float with Bendix joint axle shafts. The spicer shafts are held with a snap ring on the end, so the bushings shouldn't be an issue. According to the manual all axles have them installed.
