I've got a 1966 CJ5 and no body work experience. I'm thinking that I would like to line-x / rhino line the inside of the tub.

Its got some minor surface rust on the outside, and the inside of the tub is in good shape.

I've got all these small holes in the sides of the body from soft tops and various brackets that have been added and removed over the years. I'd like to plug these holes before the rhino liner goes in.

What is the best way to plug these holes (smaller than 1/4 inch) ? I was thinking some kind of silicone. Is this a job for bondo?

I'm not worried about looks, the outside of the tub will get roughed up, anti-rust paint and covered with a cheap rattle can job.

my brother's jeep has that stuff on the tub. it is rough on your skin if you are moving around it alot. his also is peeling and bubbling. it looks likes there was rust underneath when it was applied.

as far as the bondo goes. im sure that would work fine with proper prep.

yeah, bondo would work. if you can weld, weld them shut from the inside and grind them smooth on the outside for painting. be careful not to burn the hole bigger,(dont ask how I know about that). or you could try jb-weld and sand it smoth on the outside of the body for paint. haven't used to on the body before but I did use it to fill the ignition hole on a steering coluum and sanded it smooth and painted. I was happy with the results.

I had the same issue with my tub & used fiberglass to patch the holes. I've seen bondo pop out over time
